Mount Pleasant Baptist Church was organized by the late Reverend Robert E Tate, the late Betsy Williams and the late Albert Tate in 1928. The first worship service was held in the Masonic Lodge Hall. In 1936 the masonic Hall was converted into a church and remained the Temple of Worship until 1960. During those formative years new members were joining the church, and the founders and members carried on in the name of the Lord.
LEAD PASTOR
Pastor Perry Jones Jr. was born in Clinton, Louisiana. He is married to Loretta Adams Jones and is the proud father of four daughters: Regina, Dana, Kaylynn, and Trinity.
Rev. Jones was a deacon for eight years at the Asphodel Baptist Church of Jackson Louisiana. In 2005, after these eight years Rev. Jones felt the call of God on his life and humbly submitted to the ministry of preaching under the leadership of Pastor Roy Miller at Asphodel. Realizing that a call to preach is a call to preparation, Rev. Jones was enrolled in the St. John Bible Institute of Baker Louisiana where he finished with a three year certificate.
The Scriptures
The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to Man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.
